Austin, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In addition to hardware and data center power, Austin’s tech community has a deep commitment to sustainability.
The University of Texas at Austin has invested more than $1 billion in renewable energy.
In 2016, the Austin Economic Development Corporation and the Austin Energy Institute (AEI) announced the establishment of a new sustainability initiative to create jobs and create opportunities for the local and global tech community.
The Austin Energy Innovation Fund is a $2 billion program that supports local businesses and is committed to developing a comprehensive plan for sustainability.
In partnership with Austin Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Texas, Austin Energy has created an AustinTech Entrepreneurial Network (ATEN) that will offer opportunities for entrepreneurs to network, collaborate, and gain the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the digital world.
The ATEN team, with support from the Austin Chamber, is committed a network of local, regional, national, and international leaders to help foster and support startups in Austin and beyond.
This partnership is a prime example of AustinTech’s long-term strategy of supporting startups in the local tech sector.
The Texas Tech Council has been a strong supporter of ATEN, with its $1.5 million in annual grants to support ATEN.
AustinTech has also partnered with the Austin Business Alliance (ABC) to support startup incubators and entrepreneurship in the Austin area.
This network is helping to grow the local startup ecosystem, which has grown to over $4.7 billion in the last three years.
In 2018, the Texas Tech University’s Center for Sustainable Technology announced a $1 million grant to support entrepreneurship and support a number of startup incubator programs.
In addition to the support from ATEN and the ABC, ATEN also is an important component of the AustinTech community.
This collaboration between ATEN , the Chamber, and the University of Austin has created a network where entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs can meet and work together.
