NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York State’s biggest wheel barrows have more than a million wheels, which makes them the largest collection of wheeled and unpowered wheeled vehicles in the United States, according to the New York City Department of Motor Vehicles.
The state Department of Transportation has licensed the New Jersey-based Hudson Wheel Barrow and a New York company called Ace Hardware to build wheeled, unpowered and towable wheeled trailers that can tow up to 5,000 pounds (3,800 kg) and carry up to 1,500 passengers.
The New York-based company, which has more than 1,600 employees in New York and New Jersey, began production of its first trailer in January.
The trailers are capable of carrying up to 2,000 people and carry trailers of up to 15,000 lbs (6,500 kg) that can be towed to a site, the state Department said in a statement.
Hudson Wheel Barrows, a company with roots in New Jersey that has been making wheels for over 50 years, said it started the production of the trailers in 2015 after a new generation of wheelbarries became available for sale, the department said.
The New York department said it was not the first company to license its trailers.
In 2017, the New Orleans-based Alhambra, which sells wheeled buses, announced plans to license four trailer designs from Hudson.
The Hudson trailer is equipped with a power generator, and is able to tow up a trailer weighing up to 6,000lbs (2,400 kg).
The company said it will not build a new trailer.
Hudaestars are also known for the size of the trailer that it can carry, as well as the capacity of its wheelbars.
It said that it is the largest trailer in the world.
The company said its trailer can tow 4,000lb (2.5 metric tons) and weigh up to 10,000 lb (3.8 metric tons), the New England Journal of Medicine reported.
Hudsons wheelbarrowing capacity is up to 16,000 feet (4.8 meters) long.
